hi again! been tinkerin' with my mySpace again! LOL....new song on the profile...yoshime battles the pink robot by the Flaming Lips...aww.

That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Whenever I log onto someones MySpace, they automatically have a song playing. What if I don't like that song?! What if I'm listening to my own music?!

Well, pretty much everyone on your friends list right now has My Eyes as their profile song...so you better LIKE IT!

;P

Uhhh, I'm pretty sure it's just you lady. :)

Anne has it too! And So does Andrew!

I just looked at Andrew's 5 minutes ago (we've been messaging) and he does NOT, so there!

Uhhhhhhhh...I just looked at it two seconds ago and he does to have it! He has a Killers youtube video and some other band...but his profile song is MY EYES.

(I think it's hilarious we're arguing about this). :) I luv ya Lauren.

You can change your song so that it doesn't automatically play. Maybe he's done that...but it plays right away from me.

Oh shit...wtf just happened to Hasek? *Runs to TV*

Wait, are we both talking about Dadoo or that other Andrew... I'm talking about Dadoo.

Hey I was just watching the Office and not thinking about the gig. I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

Lauren, I was at Andrew the Monkey's site a bit ago and guess what song played? MY EYES.

Yo. What's the goings on tonight? I started to read the whole thread but then there was something about Hockey and my mind went blank, so I just skipped to the end. ;)

I'm just working on some invites for my son's birthday and then I'm going to tell you about my gig last night. It'll probably be a let down since it's not very exciting. Bad but not the most thrilling of stories.

We played on the deck of this lovely coffee house down by the river. (I know you're now singing "Sailing Away" and/or thinking of Chris Foley) We've played there before and had fun. The guitarist has to use his acoustic instead of electric and we have to keep the volume soft enough so people can talk over us but it's OK. Since it's outside and quite a large deck, we can be louder than you might imagine.

But still it's a concern. So we show up and it's breezy and chillier than I thought it would be. None of us are dressed properly (it's still been in the high 80s/low 90s). Jana (the lead singer) is feeling blah from allergies. And it looks like it's going to rain. We debate whether we should even risk it and finally decide to go for it.

As we're setting up Jana goes and talks to this woman who apparently plays every week at this coffee place and helps book it. So she is someone you want on your side. Jana asks her to give us her opinion on the volume once we've played a tune to make sure we're not too loud.

Well she took that to mean the following: I will give you feedback about your entire mix after each tune and completely disrupt the flow of your show. I will also do this while never looking up from my laptop so I can be even ruder and more obnoxious about it.

Our bassist was in charge of the mix and Jana had told him to listen to her input so he was taking it to heart, more than anything thinking it was Jana's wishes to yield to this woman. She kept saying there was too much reverb in our vocal mix but esp. given that we had to keep things soft when he tried to lower it the vocals just got really dry.

So there was the fact that I wanted to punch this woman in the face. A few other friends (whose opinions on sound I trust because I know them) said it was fine, liked the reverb, but she was being so vocal and aggressive with her opinion that it was confusing. At one point Jana said to just stop messing with it but he still tried to tweak it again and suddenly there is a huge BEEEEP and he has to mute everything while he fixes it.

Then we were all cold. I got tea right before but too late realized that it was lukewarm as best so wouldn't really help warm me up.

It wasn't our best performance musically but it was passable. It was more we were all feeling blah, this woman was on our case, and we were freeeeeezing. We usually sing 2 songs, talk a little bit, sing a few more, talk, etc. But Jana was so blah I had to remind her to say her name and mention her CD.

Then my eyes started hurting from allergies and it got to where I couldn't even read the set list!

We cut it short by about 20 minutes. Thankfully.

I'll be back in a few minutes.

Good time of the day:
My daughter standing up in the booth of the restaurant we're at and puking all over the floor, my shoes, and purse.

With absolutely no warning.

Brian stayed to get our food and I whisked her home. We'll see if she makes it through the night without yarfing again. I am going to guess no...
