I love the line "we can't see what you'll be" because I love to think about what he's going to be like when he's older - what he's going to be interested in, what he'll want to do with his life, what foods he'll like, what music he'll be into, etc... The nerd in me likes to think someday he'll walk on Mars. If he does I hope he sends back some photos. :)
8 pounds 13 oz. = 3.68 kg (BIG). Your wife has my sympathy because my son was 9 pounds 2 oz. = 4.17 kg (BIG).
Joe, that definitely is one of the neatest parts of being a parent- watching their little personalities come through and what things they are into. My son is passionate about penguins and has been since he was about 6 months old. He gets soo excited when he see them- pics, movies, live, whatever. And my daughter is pathologically obsessed with shoes. She comments on people's shoes and has more shoes than should be allowed but people (grandparents mainly) buy her tons of them because they think it's amusing. She'll put a pair on for bedtime and in the morning have different ones on.
I could go on and on about their funny quirks but I know it's only interesting to me. My point is that you and your wife will know him in a way that no one else does and it is a beautiful honor to know and love someone so deeply.
(not that it's all sunshine and roses. I'm sure you're starting to get delirious from the lack of sleep but it is all worth it) |
