I love Lovely Rita cover too! Especially when you compare it to e.g. Razorlight cover..

Yeah a brilliant cover sounds exactly like the fucking original, that's my point, it's fucking Karaoke!!

Did anyone hear Natasha Bedingfields cover of Madonnas "Ray of Light" on Radio 1 this morning? Seems to be splitting popular opinion. I thought it was really good.

the way they kept going on about it before they played the song this morining made me think it was going to be awesome, but i was disappointed.
plus no-one (in my opinion) can do a cover of Madonna and make it sound better.

I need to come out of the closet and say, before the days of excessive eyeliner and TRL, I, Lauren Elisabeth Oliver, was part of the devoted fanbase of FOB. Yes, I know. It's not like I went, "Eww their popular now, better drop them faster than a dress on prom night." I just kind of grew out of it, you know? But once in awhile when the mood strikes me, and I'm alone in the house, you can catch me rocking out to, 'Sugar, We're Goin' Down.'

In fact, I haven't known them before eyeliner and shirtless Pete in every video era. Maybe that's why I don't respect them- because of their further actions.

Oh, Els, I enjoy some Fall Out Boy too, and I'm too old to care about what anybody else thinks of that ;) Of course, under my rock, where I live, I can avoid over saturation and am quite tolerant of the craptacular music that used to make me absolutely LIVID.

That being said, I agree with Dubz Covers that sound nearly identical to the original are rather pointless to anybody except the people who are playing them. I like the "Who made a cover their own" thread better! :D

I don't know about covers but when Gwen Steffani inserts parts of Broadway Musicals into her tunes that really gets my hackles up.
