Phew thankgod someone else thinks like me! I'm am quietly obsessed with MTV1 and their silly shows! lol I have watched Laguna Beach: The Real OC and The Hills for like ages! It's sad but hey. I love MADE and My Super Sweet Sixteen and I love Cribs. These shows are sooooo cheesy and typically AMERICAN that I love them......and im 27! Is that bad?!?! lmao

Starting to get into Living On The Edge but it's not quite as good :-/

I am wondering what you mean by the shows are typically American. I am assuming you mean the way the show is produced or packaged and not the content, right?

Just curious, not offended....though if you think that Super Sweet 16 is remotely close to typical American life I would be shocked but I am pretty sure you don't. : )

I meant AMERICAN in the whole idea and production yeah. It's like the Americans seem to come up with all these wacky ideas for programmes before others do. Obviously I know it's not "typical" life for Americans or anyone really. lol I would pity anyone having to live in a country that that is the norm.lol Sweet Sixteen I think grips me because I sit at the screen and shout you horrible spoilt brat several times during the show! lol Over-priveliged kids grrrr and their attitudes! However I know these programmes only reflect the minority. I think I mean in the AMERICAN way that things tend to be over exagerrated and blown way out of proportion. If you get me?

They were going to film an episode of My Super Sweet 16 here... I think they had to stop production because the budget of her party wasn't going to be big enough. Ouch! MSS16 is like a car crash... I... just... can't stop... watching!

I get ya. I was pretty sure you meant something along those lines. I've had some insane assumptions about this country based on TV shows thrown at me so I just wanted to check.

Though I think lots of reality hits over here originated elsewhere. Survivor (Sweden?), Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (UK), Big Brother (somewhere in Europe), American Idol (UK), Dancing with the Stars (UK).

Lauren, I actually was wondering if MTV helps out with the budget to make it even more over the top. These families obviously have tons of money but even so I've still been nauseated by what is being spent on a teenager.

I had a pool party and thought that was plenty extravagant!
