you could teach using alcohol examples
for instance "a perfect Bloody Mary is X% vodka + X% tomato juice..."
Kid gets home and tell his mum "Ma ! our new math teacher is fab ! he made a list of things to buy, it's quite simple : no calculator but a shaker, spoons and glaces !"
my perfect Bloody Mary would be...
1 part Vodka (45ml)
2 parts Tomato Juice (fresh) (90ml)
1 dash of Wocester Sauce (5ml)
2 drops of Tabasco (2ml)
tiny bit of Salt and Pepper
Shake well and then serve with a single ice cube, fantastic or hangovers!!!
Now Students... Tell me exactly how much I would need to make for 5 people after an excellent night-out... and don't forget to show your working!!
