I think it's a bit dangerous that bands keeps touring and medias travel to report from the exposed areas... If they get infected and carry the virus back home, this will spread as fast as a forest fire. |

Interesting, how differently things are reported in different countries. I kind of got the idea that things are improving, and that's why they were allowed to continue. Apparently they're in Guadalajara now, on Sunday they played at Monterrey.
"We are now in Guadalajara and everyone in The Rasmus is well, the shows are going well and we are enjoying the Mexican hospitality."

I know it's a serious thing, but I can't stand the media. I don't know if it's the same thing everywhere else, but in Argentina they're making it look like the flu is coming to get you wherever you are, with scary and stupid images and graphics.
We don't even have cases in our country, but everything must revolve around us. So luckily for our hard working journalists who don't believe giving information to people is something worthy of their time, one of the victims of Swine flu in Mexico was argentinian. That seems to be sufficient evidence that we're all doomed and are going to die.
The sensationalism is really pissing me off. I haven't seen anyone on the news explaining the symptoms or saying that the disease is not necessarily fatal.
I just hope all my friends in Mexico are ok. |

"Even if there are swine-flu deaths outside Mexico -- and medical experts say there very well may be -- the virus would have a long way to go to match the roughly 36,000 deaths that seasonal influenza causes in the United States each year.
Since January, more than 13,000 people have died of complications from seasonal flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's weekly report on the causes of death in the nation.
No fewer than 800 flu-related deaths were reported in any week between January 1 and April 18, the most recent week for which figures were available."

There is SOME concern cuz it has crossed species, but there IS a cure if you already have it (meds you would take for regular flu). This has been blown way outta proportion. And I think closing schools and wearing masks is only perpetuating the problem. Do schools close during "cold season"? Hardly. Just wash your hands and take any other precaution you would to avoid any other diseases you can get from other ppl. And don't hug or make out with any pigs. |

I agree! From what I understand this could easily have been prevented, after touching livestock, wash your hands! Hand sanitzer is a wonderful thing. |

I just got a recorded call from the school district. There is a confirmed case at my kids' school. The school will be "thoroughly disinfected" tonight and open tomorrow. I hate to be one of "those people" who buy into hysteria...but I'm keeping them home tomorrow. And the word on the street is that the infected kid is the sibling of a someone in my Sumner's class. The father has it as well (he was recently in Mexico). God, I hate overreacting but... |

Yeah I was surprised too by the amount of pigs there given that the majority of them most likely don't even eat pork. |
