I don't like all the sad work news :(
I was pretty lucky to find something within a couple months of moving home, but even it is a 1 year contract so I will back in the shuffle of job hunting next summer. Scary.

Well, I have spent the last 3 days moving. It is getting there, but my apartment is currently a wasteland of cardboard boxes! Painting is 75% done, 2 pieces of furniture left to assemble and a few things to still move in, but it is starting to resemble a home. If anyone wants to come over and take 2394809320943 boxes down to the dumpster, I would be most grateful.

Hello my boardie sweeties, we just got back from a little family trip to Disney World! It was our first time going with the children. We all had a blast! It was also nice to totally unplug for 4 days and not even know what was going on in the real world. We got to just...BE.

Sorry to hear that everyone is having such bummer luck with the jobs situation. I count my blessings every day that my husband is still employed. I hope things turn around for everyone soon.

Out for a work thing, one of the girls is leaving. I'm really not in the mood for this. Here myself as soon as the guys arrive I think I'll make my excuses. Just wanna go home and sleep.

Kayte, where was my invite eh?

I've not used all my holiday time from work this year and normally that wouldn't bother me. This year though i decided to be a dick and apply for all my remaining time off at once!. With 12 days to take i worked it so i would have my 4days off, 4days holiday, 4days off, 4days holiday etc etc. I only done it to cause problems but they actually approved it!. Now i have the whole of next month off on half pay and nothing planned

I got told i have small nipples ;). There is obviously worse things to be called small when all you have on is your pants, but that's still not nice

Thanks Kayte.

I punched a guy in the face on Friday night and still feel terrible about it. I was on the bus home from the work thing about 11:30 and the bus stopped and a load of drunk students got on, two lads were being extremely obnoxious, swearing and being generally loud and abrasive. I took off my headphones and politely asked them to calm down as there were others on the bus apart from them, one of them did but the other kept on being obnoxious, every second word from his mouth was "Fucking" and he was using the word "c*nts" to describe his friends, me & others on the bus. Again I removed my headphones and asked him to stop asking him "to calm down and we'd all reach our destination mor comfortably", this had no affect other than to get him to continue his abuse and obnoxiousness which was now being mainly directed at me. When the bus reached his stop I calmly got up, then he said something and I just snapped and punched him twice in the face, busting his lip and nose. I knew it was wrong as soon as I made contact. Ironically most of the bus cheered. I then escorted him off the bus and explained to him why I had hit him. His replies were priceless, "I wasn't calling you a c*nt I was calling the girls c*nts", I explained that was even worse and if he repeated it he was in danger of me hitting him again. I explained you cannot use the "C" word so freely in Ireland as it's an insult reserved for only the most serious of cases. It took about 10 minutes of explaining but I think he eventually got it as his parting comment to me was "I love this asshole". He definately deserved to be taught a lesson in behaviour. But I don't think it should have been me doing the teaching, I did try to explain to him several times before I hit him that it wasn't OK to behave like that so even though I feel he left me no option, I still feel really shitty for lifting my hands. Maybe I should just have walked away but that would have meant he got away with it and may still continue to behave like that, Hopefully he will remember that it's not ok to act like a complete halfwit on a bus full of people. That said while he should have been made to take responsibility and see the errors of his actions I don't think I should have taken it upon myself to pass judgement and carry out sentence upon him. I'm really disappointed in myself.

Well...there are a variety of ways to look at it. He obviously had no "fetching up" as they say. Parental fail. So, he didn't learn that way. Time probably would have been the cure, as maturing generally opens ones eyes to such things. He had the misfortune of learning the hard way. The only thing I'd worry about is having him press charges against you, which sounds unlikely seeing as he doesn't know who you are.

The fact that you regret doing it means you both learned something that night. You could have potentially seriously hurt him, so it really is better in almost all instances not to hit people. I really don't think you'll be making a habit of it.

This part made me laugh:
"...it's an insult reserved for only the most serious of cases."

The buses have cameras but I doubt anything will happen, he was far enough on that he probably won't even remember it.

I deffo won't be making a habit of it, I can't fight for a start so had it turned nasty (2 against 1) I could have got the sh!t kicked outta me. I learned that you really shouldn't resort to violence a long time ago which is why 'm so annoyed with myself for slipping into that mode. You females may have your faults when it comes to stuff (especially shoes). But us males really can be assholes at times, the whole alpha male thing is bullsh!t, we shoulda left it in the trees when we climbed down.

Haha, There are certain words that are taboo, IMO the "C" word is one of them. People say that swearing is a lack of vocabulary, Well fuck that shit, Sometimes swearing is ok but there are, as with any languages, rules that should be followed.

And thank you, I appreciate it.

Dubz, I'm not a big fan of violence, but it seems to me the dude had it coming. Somebody needed to teach him a lesson, and I'm sorry it fell on you to do the job. His parents should've done a better job.
I find it really cool that you stuck around to explain why you hit him, hat off for that!

I felt after I had physically assaulted him he was at the very least due an explanation, it probably sounded more like a lecture than I would have liked but at least he knows why I did what I did. Whether he agrees, or can understand, is up for debate but... hopefully as Kayte says it'll go towards his maturing as a man.

I counted my shoes. I have:
2 sneakers (one nice pair and one for garden work)
2 casual (one black, one red)
2 dressy (one flat, one heel)
1 sandal
1 hippie boot for fun

I don't see how I could make it in society with less than this. Men can get away with only 3 pairs of shoes because you never have to wear dresses. But I do have plenty of other faults. ;o)

True, the good thing about being a man is that you really only need one black suit, you can change the shirts/ties to make it suit funerals, weddings, christenings, graduations, etc.,etc.

That guy deserved a smack in the face. Well done. If more people were prepared to dish out the odd punch to idiots like that then there would be less of them about.

A bit drunk nd considering a late night drunk post.

I must have typed and deleted a 100 messages in the last few hours. maybe it helps reading things and getting them out of your head. A few drinks have helped because i feel less stressed and i think i might get more than 2 hours sleep!
