not here...12°C, stormy and continious rain since 3 days AND today is "Siebenschläfer" (whatever the English word for it is), that means todays weather appoints the weather for the next seven weeks *blah* :-(
shittiest summer ever!
Funny, a colleague just sent a mail with an explanation of this day. I just don't get the connection lol. In Danish, the day is called 'syvsoverdag', which is an exact translation of the german name. According to the legend, seven men were trying to escape some other men on the Karlion mountain near Efesos. The pursuers then bricked up the entrance of a cave where the seven men were hiding. 200 years later, the wall was torn down, and the men awoke briefly before dying again.
And now the million dollar question: I get the whole 'seven' part, but what does it have to do with the weather??
What is happening is that everywhere's getting warmer. This means the ice caps are melting. At the moment, we the salt in the water, warth is circulated in the following manner:
(warmth)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Equator--------------------------------Ice cap
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (cold)
At teh Equator, the water heats, thus rising. When it reaches one of the poles, it gets colder, thus sinking.
When the ice caps melt, the salt contents in the water is reduced, thus breaking the chain.
Consequence: Northern/Southern countries are no longer warmed, countries near the Equator are no longer cooled.
I'd rather be freezing than boiling...Yet another goodthing about being British.
Well they probably won't come here, denmark is much too flat and some of the country is below sea level. I wouldn't mind coming to Scotland though anyway, so see you there :o)
