it's pretty safe to assume it was a race issue for many years, i don't know enough about the oscars to form any sort of opinion, i don't know who shortlists the films, don't know who votes for winners, i've never even ever seen it on tv . looking back i should have considered other award ceremonies (like the oscars) i just wrongly assumed it was about music
the annoyance with the MOBO awards on my part is that in this day and age with political correctness gone mad and the constant preaching for a multi cultural society then no group should distance themselves based on race for any reason, even if it is as trivial as music |

Black artists rarely get a look-in at other awards ceremonies, if they want to have their own little shindig, I can't see how that hurts anyone here who has posted against the MOBO's.
Craig David didn't win anything cause he's shite... not because of his colour. There are plnty of people of different ethnic creeds have won Brits.
Ok, so why don't all the other awards ceremonies get such blanket coverage, The Country Music awards, The Soul awards, The Jazz awards (no scratch that last one, bad example, Jazz is sh!t).
The only reason Amy Whinehouse has got a mention is that it's acceptable to "black" culture. What about the White Stripes?? Their music is Rhythm and Blues by MOBO criteria that's surely of "Black" origin but no, It has Fuck All to do with Music Of Black Origin and everything to do with politics.
Why is it ok for Lenny Henry, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker to tell jokes about their straght laced white friends but when a white comedian does it they scream racism.
It's Fucking Double Standards.
btw I think it's ok for any side to do it as long as they are not inciting hatred or violence, but it shold be the same rule for all.

In a way I agree with you, but at the same time, racism still exists, and black people are still a minority, so I guess maybe sometimes they need to do this kind of things just to "honour" (I can't find a better word, sorry) their own culture.

maori people are like that i believe...we live as part of the land, we don't own it..then they turn around and demand money etc...
i'm so sick of it, especially the treaty of waitangi (google it...) though aborginials kind of do have a reason to be pissed off from their treatment, but you don't really hear about it much
