Bill Hicks views on creationism...
Bill Hicks died in 1994 so the Bush he's talking about at the start of this is daddy George Bush, it's nice to see how much we have moved on from then...

The point would be that Tinky-Winky isn't supposed to have any sexuality whatsoever lol. The audience consists of 3-year-olds, I don't really think they would get any subtle hints. |

Apparantly, some people believe that they're being indoctrinated by evil producers, or infiltrated by the gay-friendly enemy or what do I know :oS

No you're not.
Did you read the article that I posted in the first (or rather, the second) post?
These people think that the teletubbies are sending the wrong, ie gay, signals. I think this is utter bulls**t (pardon my french) cos children this young won't pick up any signals even if there were any.
The point is that if you're homophobic enough, you'll see a gay threat everywhere. |

I agree that the US isn't the best country for gay people. I don't have the impression that guy people are being persecuted in a semi-official way the way it happens in certain other countries. I suppose it depends on which state you live in.
In this country, gay people can enter into a civil partnership. The only reason they can't be married is that certain people think that marriage is for straight couples only. Hence they call it civil partnership. To me, the main point is that they become each other's next of kin with all the right and obligations that this ensues.
Yeah - Jerry Falwell - a prominent U.S. "Christian" minister who died last month - sparked the whole Tinky-Winky-is-gay debate several years ago here in the U.S. Just ridiculous.
In the U.S., they leave it up to individual states as to whether gay marriage should be legal. I live in the only state - Massachusetts - that allows gay marriage. Even then, there is a constant battle to scale gay marriage rights back to "civil unions," which are allowed in a small handful of other states, such as Vermont & I believe California. Civil Unions offer the same rights/protections as marriages, except they're not called marriages. The supposed logic is that marriage is meant only for a man & woman, and somehow, letting gays marry will tarnish the meaning marriage for others. I'm a married woman, and I have no problem with allowing gay couples in loving, committed relationships to marry. It has absolutely no impact on my relationship with my husband. I have several gay friends, some of whom are in long-term, committed relationships. These relationships are far healthier & more loving than most heterosexual couples I know!!! |
