Prejudice is certainly not dead. First there was the demonstration turning violent in Moskow the other day. Now the teletubbies are being accused of being gay! Excuse me, but since when is Tinky-Winky supposed to have a sexuality??

thats not the first time that has happened. there was a religous freak here (who just died this month) named jerry falwell who did the same thing. he also said that the reason troops are dying in iraq is because america supports gay rights.
wtf?
ah man. dont get me started. :) |

Did anyone see that Louis Theroux documentary about the Phelps family? God hates fags apparently.
It was hilarious/incredibly scary. |

I was watching the news about this demonstration. Some of the troublemakers (ie. right-wing fundamentalist christians) were saying that 'queers were a disease and they should all die'.
Oh, and the US is losing the war in Iraq cos they support gay rights?? But yes, of course :oS
This morning I heard that a new musuem had opened in Kentucky. This musuem shows all the 'scientific' proof that everything was created as it says in the Bible. Some demonstrators outside had huge signs saying 'Get real!' lol

I guess if you believe in creationism (ie NOT darwinism) and you've been brought up to believe that every word in the Bible is true, well then... *sigh*
It just makes me angry that people can't see past someone's sexuality. |

When the little kid got hit with something someone threw from a car and the mum didn't take that as a sign what they were doing was inappropriate, I couldn't believe it!

So it's a choice whether you want to spend your money supporting the cause or satisfying your curiousity? Hmmm... Difficult one. I'd probably let my curiousity get the better of me. |

Aside from the ridiculous connection between support of gay rights & the Iraq war (??!!) -- I find it hard to believe that people outside of the U.S. think that we support gay rights here. I think that the U.S. is a very homophobic country. Part of the reason that Bush won his 2nd presidential term was because the religious right was successful in generating voter turnout by putting gay marriage bills on ballots in some key states. These people voted for Bush & all the destruction he's caused, but God forbid they let Joe & Tom get married. It just makes no sense at all. |

Well at least the US isn't accusing Tinky-Winky of being gay, at least not yet.
I agree that the US isn't the best country for gay people. I don't have the impression that guy people are being persecuted in a semi-official way the way it happens in certain other countries. I suppose it depends on which state you live in.
In this country, gay people can enter into a civil partnership. The only reason they can't be married is that certain people think that marriage is for straight couples only. Hence they call it civil partnership. To me, the main point is that they become each other's next of kin with all the right and obligations that this ensues.
I guess it's all a matter of not offending the people who support you. I think that the Republicans would lose big time if they offended a good portion of their electors by allowing gay marriage :oS
