Oooh, you're a fashion person...good! I am having a fashion emergency. Well, it's not an emergency yet, but it will be soon. At the end of the month I am going to a "Meet the Artist" night at an art gallery in Chicago. (My husband is the artist, so we've already met ;o) The gallery owner said dress is "nice casual." So far I'm thinking black pants with a red turtleneck (ha ha) and a black corduroy jacket that is kind of fitted with a silver zipper. Does that sound fine? I don't want to look too dressed up, but I also don't want to look like I just fell off the turnip truck.

Oh tell me more... I spent really too much money on clothes today. And I think I'm gonna come back tommorrow to buy these beautiful-like-crazy-shoes ;p
But I hate crowd in malls, yuk!

Come on...we’re Polish :D It’s in our blood to know how to dress, lol. The Polish side (my mom’s side) are always well-dressed. I don’t know what it is, but when I visited on vacation for a month I noticed a lot of well-dressed people....I also noticed women wear skirts a lot more in Poland than they do in the U.S. And the old ladies have purple hair :D

So I'm wearing my new boots I bought a few weeks ago for the first time today. They're so freakin' cute! They remind me of Fran's boots in "Love Will Come Through" ... the kind you tuck your jeans in...but not as furry and crazy and elf-like as his, LOL. But the snow just started coming down so I picked a perfect day to wear them.

Aww, purple hair! Haha, I don't know what it is about, but they look weird and there is a lot of them (I mean ladies)! Good that my grandma is not one of them ;)

There is a lot of well- dressed people here, really! Especially in big cities and especially women. 'Cause guys, you know...well...not that much ;P

Hehe...turnip truck. Yeah! That sounds just fine. Either dress pants or a skirt. I envision your closet as a sea of color-coded turtlenecks! :P

I’m having a similar dilemma because I’m going to my boyfriend’s step-nephew’s Bat Mitzvah. I’ve never been to one before, but I hear they really go all out and it’s a huge celebration like on the scale of a wedding. WeirdMommy and I have both been searching for long-sleeved dresses but they apparently don’t exist so I decided I'm just gonna wear a really fancy, pretty top and a skirt. I hope I’m not under-dressed.

So what type of art does your husband do? Is he a painter? sculptor?

If it's a boy it is called a Bar Mitzvah and if it's a girl, it's a Bat Mizvah.
You're supposed to dress really well.
Is the family religous or not ? This has an impact on the way you dress.
I'd wear a dress, nice hearrings ang gorgeous shoes.

You don't even want to know how many turtlenecks I own. Basically open a Lands' End catalog to the turtleneck page and there you go.

I have never been to either type of Mitzvah, so I wouldn't know what to wear to that, either. Isn't it crazy that when men get dressed up they put on more and more layers and when a woman gets dressed up she's half bare?

My husband is a painter. He paints large pictures, about 4'X5'. They look better in person than in photos, but his web site is http://www.donaldcronkhite.com
This is his first solo exhibition, so he's very excited.

Shoot. I knew it was either Bat or Bar. Yeah...they are religious...and super wealthy...so I know they'll all be dressed to the nines. (What the heck does that saying mean anyway? *goes to google*) I do have really gorgeous earrings, though. I think I'll be OK with what I got. The top is really fancy. Plus, over the past two weeks I think I've already tried on every dress in the Metro Detroit area with no luck! lol.

Maybe take a stole or a jacket with you - I wouldn't advise a top that shows too much skin but i'm pretty sure your outfit choice will be great.
Bar mitzvot are fun.

Cool! I wish I could paint clouds like that!

I got inspired by a painting a saw in a furniture store recently of a rainy city street and four people standing on the sidewalk with umbrellas over their faces. It just screamed "Why Does It Always Rain On Me." I've been trying to recreate it for about a month. I never have time...but it's OK for my first attempt at painting since like...elementary school. :)

Um, can't be bothered reading how this discussion has evolved - but yes, I hate it when Christmas is promoted so soon! :p

By the way, totally unrelated, but I just noticed that Dougie in Lucile's picture is wearing the same outfit as Han Solo. http://matsch.binaervarianz.de/blog/templates/bi.de/img/emoticons/geeky.png

I'm sure the mellenium falcon helps with all their touring 'n that. http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x66/Jearoon2/Smilies/10-Tongue.gif
