Sorry but I just don't get it. I've been married for quite some time now and don't need overpriced roses to express my feelings. Maybe those of you who are single see things differently when it comes to the 14th Feb. |

Commercial crap.
I treat it like any other day of the year, I don't need one day to show someone I care about them, I do it all year long (if she lasts that long). Much the same as Christmas, people being nice to people they can't stand the other 364 days of the year. It's hypocritcal and I don't like it. Plus even if you do decide to treat your loved one your just gonna get ripped off, shit food, terrible service as the usual establishments want you in and out as soon as possible.

Commercial, watered down crap in Finland, where the name of the day is translated as "Friend's day". So there's a double amount of rubbish, both the Valentine's romantic and friend's cute stuff. Horrible! |

I guess there are the stone-age Fred Flintstone types who only do something nice for their nice for their wives/girlfriends when there is an occasion that forces them to do so; birthday, anniversary, Valentines Day. I don't find obligated "romance" romantic. Though we do acknowledge the day, we've never done much for Valentine's Day as far as buying at our house. I think we're lovey-dovey enough throughout the year. |

It's an imported date in Argentina, so I'm with commercial crap. People who make a fuss about it are usually wannabes who think that by celebrating Valentine's Day or Halloween or any other imported date they're closer to the First World. (It's the same target of people who freaked out and queued for hours when Starbucks first arrived in the city, even though Buenos Aires has historically had TONS of caffés and bars and pubs where you can drink coffee of much higher quality).
No, thanks. :oP |

Well it's nice to hear I'm not the only one who thinks it's just about the money. My husband is under strict intsructions NOT to buy any roses today and then if he wants he can buy me a whole big bunch tomorrow once they're half price, haha.
I like to think I'm romantic even though I don't get sucked up into the trappings of Valentine's day. Our relationship has lasted nearly 20 years so we must be doing something right :) |

I don't think I've really felt strongly about it one way or the other. No, I don't think we need a day to tell us to express our love, but on the other hand, if people want to partake, cool.
My husband and I usually do something small. I think it's nice. |
