Meeting Travis in Austin?

(this is the same post as in the Travis message board)
Does anyone have any suggestions for trying to meet the band? I would really like to say hi, give them some cookies, whatever. I've been a huge fan for the last 5+ years. The last two shows they did in Austin I was pregnant (one was three weeks before I had my son!) so I had to stay towards the back in case one of those typical Travis mosh pits started. : )

Anyway I am NOT pregnant so it'll be good even if I don't meet them because I'll be able to get close and not worry about people hitting my belly.

we're just going to wait around after the show...it could be an hour or two before they come out, but it's definitely worth it.
hopefully i'll see you there!

It'll be fun to meet more Travis fans. So many people I know haven't even heard of them which baffles me. But I've brought some people round to our thinking and some are coming to the show. I'll keep trying and that's good to know that it might be a wait but it's worth it.

Hey, I believe in truth in advertising! : ) I'm not "stalker" weird, but I am definitely weird compared to other mothers I know.

I like your picture.

Kind of looks like a doo-whop singer. Are you in Austin? Coming to the show?

Really? I looked at your profile and it said the shows you went to were in Boston so I assumed you lived up there. You work at Stubbs? On the corporate side I am assuming since you said you're an office drone?

Your "tell me something I don't know" thread is getting pretty hysterical.

yeah i saw travis when i lived in beantown. i decided to move so i've been working in austin for a few years. i book the acts that play here so when i heard that travis were available i thought i'd snag 'em. they're going to be shutting down this venue at the end of the fall so it'll be nice to see some decent bands play here before the wrecking balls come in. they're building an APPLE store on this location, can you credit that?

WHAT!?!?!?!!? How did I not know this? That is insane. Some of my favorite concerts ever were there. Travis (of course), Michael Franti and Spearhead were amazing.

So here is a question: is Travis bringing an opening band along with them? If not, how does one toss their ring in the hat to be considered? And just generally, not just for their show.

yeah Michael Franti is a really nice guy, he actually stayed with me when he was shooting through here a few months ago, played a cracking busking gig outside manuels on congress, made about 50 bucks for more margaritas. too funny. it's not been stated who travis will have as support act i'll find out soon. Thom Yorke is going to be playing an acoustic set here (supposedly secret) in a few weeks that should be fun, he's a great guy very nice on the phone. has a bit of a cold at the moment, hope it clears up before he comes over.

to your question - Brook does local acts and Amy (who works for me) does national and international stuff.

Michael Franti seems like he would be the most super duperest chilled kind person. In the best way I found him to be very childlike- meaning open, honest, and willing to be silly/go with the moment.

I am still reeling that they are closing Stubb's. The whole thing or just the venue part? How can this be?!?! I love my iMac and all but COME ON. That venue is a blast.

So you didn't answer my question about how does one put their ring in a hat? Send in a press kit? Don't worry, I'm not about to ask you for some super duper huge favor just because we've chatted on a message board. I have a reason for asking but I'm just asking since you would know. : )

And I am curious what you were doing in your 15 year old pic. Show choir?

the Apple store is all i'm aware of at the moment.

i thought i did answer the question, contact Brook via the website and make sure you tell them that Harry Potter said hello. They'll know what you mean by that. good luck.

Sorry, I don't know why I didn't see your answer in your last post. But still want to know if my show choir theory is correct.
