we've all told porky pies (i.e. lies) throughout our ongoing tenure here on this planet.
some of us have told small "white lies" others i'm sure have told some right whoppers (e.g. telling my father that some street toughs put in the back window of the ford escort, when in fact it was me that did it).
if a person was to be completely honest about everything i think that person would be the loneliest person on the planet, noone would want to know them, they'd probably be unemployed and more than likely would be rather obnoxious to boot.
so, what do you think - is honesty the best policy or is that old saying a bunch of doodoo.

| No, honesty is NOT the best policy. Especially in certain instances! Best to keep smut than hurt feelings :) |

It's in our nature to lie...
Like Dr. House says..."Everybody lies...now give me that Vicodin!" |

Well certainly it is wise to at least keep silent sometimes. What you don't know won't hurt you.
White lies should be used carefully since you risk getting into a net of lies that you can't get out of again without admitting that you lied. Those are the worst lol |

No it's not.
Especially at work and sometimes with girlfriends (if you happen to have had a fling with girlfriend's guy or that sort of thing).

but what about diplomacy? surely a person can be honest just as long as he/she understands the need to thread lightly so as not to put the other person(s) on the defensive, no?
are some things better left unsaid regardless? if so, examples please - what's best to lie about in any given situation?
