| Their expenditures have just been released. They costs each British citizen the huge sum of... 62p. If that's not value for money, I don't know what is. |

| It's not even the price of a magazine that will relate to you the latest gossip on William and Kate. |

The advantages:
-A symbol of the former and (though some might disagree) present glory of our nation(s)
-Increased tourist business
-Diplomatic relations
-Ecological protection (HRH Prince Charles has a neutral carbon footprint...hardly anyone here can claim the same)
-Plenty of charities
-House of Lords (though ot included in expenses) act as a safety cushion (e.g. They stopped certain abuses of liberties during the Terror Act debates)
Disadvantages:
-62p
-Being called "old fashioned" by other countries (which I actually call respect for traditions) |

| Well I'm not gonna oppose to monarchy. We've got a queen here too, and the entire royal family is incredibly popular, even with republicans. Dunno how much we pay though. |

| If anyone does complain, I'll pay them their 62p with interest, making it a Quid, just for them to shut up. |

| Technically it costs us more. As that calculation will take into account people who dont actually pay any tax. |

I agree with all that - even being scottish and all that ;) haha
But unfortunately you will find people more than prepared to put up the argument "I wouldln't care of it was a penny they cost us, its my money and I'd rather just give it to a charity myself!" rather than just sit down and shut up and realise that although theres nothing toooooooooo spectacular they do these days compared to in history, its what they did in history that has made us the nation we are...and possibly that lack of their authority has led to some of our downfalls... |
