I've been lurking a bit (well no need to hide it now that we can see views!) and it seems that people receive messages in Spanish? I understand that there are bugs in any new system, but I'm just wondering how messages can come out in Spanish :oS

And yes, that was my working brain kicking in. I'm currently involved in 3 system tests, so I've got system bugs on my brain lol

And how are you today?

lol, I was more thinking of English messages mysteriously turning into Spanish ones, but this is good too :oP

Tengo que aprender mas español. Or, how do you say that I should improve my spanish :o)

Il faut aussi que je parle le français un peu plus mais au moins je peut ecrire une phrase en français. Je ne peut ecrire rien (ou presque rien) en espagnol.

I hope this makes sense...

So you're rather busy, eh?

Yeah I'm going home for a family thing tomorrow afternoon. Mind, it would've suited me fine to have a weekend to myself cos the flat hasn't been properly cleaned for weeks. However, this will have to wait til next weekend *sigh*

I think this is a consequence of being from such a small country. You basically have to speak at least English to be able to speak to anyone outside the borders. Or German. I grew up near the border to Germany so I learned to understand at an early age. Now I just need to be better at speaking it as well!

Ton Anglais est parfait - common tu l'appris? Je pense qu'il y a beaucoup de français qui parlent un peu d'anglais mais pas parfaitement :o)

I lived in England for 16 months when i was 20. Basically had to re-learn the language from scratch because of our poor educationnal methods. England and me was love at first sight so i'm planning to move to London next year.
Dutch are known to be extremely good at mastering foreign languages....good for you that you also speak Deutsch !
Do you use any foreign language at work ? I was lucky to hae english as a work-language for a long time (i worked with loads of anglo-saxons who didn't speak french so it was fun).

I heard a report made a while ago about foreign languages speaking and learning.
It concluded that french university students level in english (after 2 years of uni) equalled 13 years old finnish !

Well the Danish are also good at foreign languages :o) It's funny how people tend to confuse Dutch and Danish, but it's probably because we seem very alike. I don't speak Dutch though :o)

And yes, I do use English at work. I've got a master's degree in English for scientific purposes, which basically means technical, legal and financial English. I mostly use technical English so it's slowly eating away my ability to speak & write more down-to-earth English. This isn't too good since I sometimes work as an interpreter.

I spent a semester in Lyon and I also took some English classes, such as translation and interpretation classes. It was funny to observe how the students wrote a fantastic English but couldn't really speak the language. I understand though; I spent about 7 years learning French and it's really poor compared to my English, even if I'm technically allowed to teach French at high school level.

Will you be working in London or...?

oops ! i thougtht you were dutch and since you mentionned you lived near Germany it made perfect sens to me !! Sorry.

So all this time i kept on thinking you lived in the Netherlands !

Wow ! your CV is impressive. What made you pick your job ?

I'd love to have translation skills because i'm totally clueless when it comes to translation english into french and vice-versa.

Did you like Lyon ? I've neer been there.
Great food, hey ? You tried "les bouchons" i guess.
