they're having this big multi-venue ecoconcert today. s'called "live earth" and they're trying to promote recycling, saving the planet and all that.

between the bands playing (e.g. wolfmother, shikira, snore patrol) there's these short flicks made with the intent of preaching to the world's couch spuds (i mean who the fuck else is watching this thing on the telly on a day like today except...people...like...me) erm, anyways, to teach the sofa spud how to conserve energy and the like.

as usual i've got a bone to pick with this event's promotoers preaching such stuff given the fact that they're involving companies who are complicit in the plastic creation situation too (i.e. the band's record companies) - with their plastic covered, plastic encased cd jewel trays and the like. what up with that?

it was funny too to see genesis creaking out the hits with the geezer playing the keyboards having a big green plastic bottle of pop sitting beside him - this event needed a Prop Manager to help sell the message.

anyways, i'm off to finish planting plants out in the steamy july weather, hurrah :/

Although the climate change is a very serious issue, I think that this whole project starts to dilute the Live Aid/Live Earth concept.

I've had the TV running whenever I've been home today and that's not very carbon neutral... However, some of the music is quite good :o)

Well I recorded some of the stuff from this afternoon so I'm watching that whenever someone like Iglesias Jr. is on stage...

Well I thought ahead... plus I didn't wanna miss some bands. I know that Razorlight and Snow Patrol aren't always too popular on this board, but I liked their performances today :o)

As you say, it's all for a good cause!

I don't know who's performing, but looks like it's mostly lesser known bands/performers

I wouldn't call bands like Genesis, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Duran Duran lesser known. But you're right, there are also local bands performing.
