It's widely known that Fran's birthday looms, and there's already a number of related threads in the Travis section of the forum.
Rather than everyone start a "happy birthday" thread, why not just have one all encompassing thread where everyone can post their greetings. Maybe make it a "happy birthday Travis members" thread, so we can search it down 4 times a year and bump it back to life for each birthday.
Advantages:
* It's tidier
* The earlier "Fran's birthday" threads don't get swallowed up several pages back
* Fran can see everyones' greetings in one place.
* The search function should ensure it's always found
* There's more room on the opening page for other Travis related conversation.
It's just a suggestion, which I suspect everyone will ignore. But imho it makes sense.
Go on, try it! :)
Or at least discuss here!!! |

The simple thing is for folks to learn to use the search button and add to an existing thread no matter what the subject is.
Everyone should be made to watch this

Thanks guys. A bit of netiquette never harmed anyone :)
So how about just go with the one that's currently open on page one of the Travis section?
Agreed?
Maybe twt could press some buttons and rename it the "birthday greetings to Travis thread" - pretty please?????
And any suggestions for suitable punishments for those who dare to disobey????? ;) |

What Darran says.
100% on the money for me. Abandon this 20 threads per gig nonsense people - way too messy! One thread, every photo you want to post, every review you want to write, every meet-up you want to arrange. All in one cosy place.
(and Darran, thank you for affirming my o.c.d. on computer housekeeping!!!!!)
And finally thanks for that link. Long time no see. I'd forgotten how good it is.
Darran rocks. Official. |

Same reason there are loads of threads about Selfish Jean, same reason there are loads of threads about each individual gig etc etc. Honestly, there only needs to be ONE thread about Selfish Jean!!!!!
But I don't get what the reason is. Some kind of overwhelming uncontrollable compulsion to start threads? Surely it's far easier to read about a gig, when all posts are in the one thread.
Or are you wondering why people have started the Fran- birthday threads so soon? Dare I suggest it's a competitive thing? Everyone wants to be the first to post their greetings? (subconsciously, of course)
If I'm right, it's just plain silly. If I'm wrong, sorry. |

...i'd rather wish someone a happy birthday on the day of their birthday...to each their own right? |

Absolutely.
Not quite the issue of the thread, but can't fault the logic! |
