"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler."

| I still have nightmares because of H.D. Thoreau. I had to read his "Walden" for a class in uni. That was one of the most dreadful books I've ever read! But this quote is good. Was it taken from "Walden"? |

I have no idea - it's actually from a magnet i bought in Manhattan and put on my fridge - i really like its philosophy.
Right now, i'm trying to build my life around my dreams.
Just finished listening to a Thoreau broadcast on France Culture. |

Ok, I guess I'd remember if it was... All I can remember though is awfully long descriptions of him sounding the depths of a pond and the art of hoeing beans... dreadful! |

Sure, I'll try and think of a few books I've enjoyed reading while I was still a student. I wouldn't have recommended Joseph Conrad anyway. I specialised in linguistics, not literature because the classics tend to bore me. I'm more into contemporary authors. Off the top of my head, I'd recommend "The Complete Stories" by Flannery O'Connor. I really enjoyed this one. I liked the symbolism and the irony and it's fairly easy to read. I'll try and think of a few more and let you know. |
