This has been a really great week for me. I got an awesome raise on Monday and I got some other great news that I'll share later. And Travis is tonight. But, as usual, when things are fantastic, things seem to go haywire at the same time. My son, my husband, and I are all getting over bronchitis and my daughter is almost over an ear and sinus infection.
And when I picked the kids up from school yesterday my son's right ring finger was insanely swollen and he couldn't move it. He hurt it but didn't tell anyone (which is so sad!). So last night when I just wanted to rest for tonight instead I was at the clinic with him getting it X-rayed. They are pretty sure it's not broken but there is one spot they are getting the radiologist to look at. Either way it has to be in a splint, which they couldn't even close all the way because his finger is so swollen. : (
I was so upset last night and my body was full of so many momma bear hormones that I couldn't go to sleep until after midnight.
Thankfully he thinks it's cool (I told him the splint was like armor for his finger) and was all excited to show his friends.
Does this happen to anyone else? When you have some great things happening there has to be some chaos/crisis in another area? I just focus on the blessings and laugh about the rest but sometimes I can't believe how it happens time and time again. |

As another mum, I can safely say that my kids have thrown more spanners in the works than I'd care to think of. And once you're a parent, you seem to take on everyone's troubles, not just your family's. (I've just taken on the worries of a work colleague this week).
You've got some good stuff going on there, which outweighs the bad. Enjoy the raise and enjoy the gig! :) |

I agree. Sometimes I feel like Oprah the way people pour out their problems to me! Maybe they just sense your maternalness or something, I don't know.
I have lots of good stuff going on and I definitely appreciate it all. But sometimes I don't get why I can't enjoy it without messes like possible broken fingers and wading through floods to get to the show complicating it. |

| I'm not a mother but that happens to me as well in various situations. Everything's great and things suddenly take a potentially tragic turn. But it's always ended up wonderfully so far so I like to think of this as a reminder that I should be grateful for all the cool things that are happening to me and that I shouldn't take anything for granted. |
