Anyone listen to it this morning? They had an interview with Kate McCann Listen Again

I know we have to be careful because this is an on-going police investigation but, there's a few odd things:

1. A lengthy pause when asked: "Was Madeleine asleep when you left her?"
This could have been because Kate was trying to work out whether the interviewer meant initially OR the last time she checked on Maddie. But it sounded very odd when I first listened.

And 2. Kate says she has no trouble sleeping at night.
WTF? She surely can't be serious.

Didn't listen to it but will then.

Must say the latest developments have left me feeling weird.
It took me a long time to focus on something else after reading that blood traces had been found by dogs in the room where the little girl slept.

The blood traces could have been there from before the McCann's rented the apartment, or they could have been from someone staying at the apartment after the McCann's had vacated the premises. It doesn't help that the Portuguese police seem rather incompentent :s

What confuses me is that the case has received such enduring publicity. I mean, there are thousands of children that go missing every year, yet they are not mentioned oh so frequently by the press.
In my opinion, the parents must be very well connected or something very funny is going on.

Still though, what would the media be saying if it was welfare recepients from a knacker area?:0/
Anyways Ive listened to the interview. She seems all over the place, almost cold, no signs of emotion, naive. But really I think deep down the woman is numb and shes in denial, this is her possibly her biggest strength right now

Once read a comment in the Guardian about the way english tabloids treated the story and found it interesting.
It basically said a child that goes missing draws attention - when the child is an adorable-looking little girl like Maddie it sells A LOT - and when the parents of the child are doctors (hence ppl who devote their professionnal life to others) it's a gold mine.

Its all very strange. To me it seems like theres something really obvious that is being overlooked.I can't believe that someone would just turn up in the 30 minute window of opportunity , abduct and end up in Europe or even farther away , doesn't make sense. The 3 month drag for finding the blood is strange, dont like the sound of that. Pity cuddle cat cant speak.

Yes, but the blood could still have been there for a long time.

What's also puzzling is that the other two kids can't (or don't appear to have) give(n) any information. I know they're only two but that are ways and means (drawing pictures etc). Whoever took Maddie must have either been very quiet (doubtful when they apparently got through the window) or it was someone they knew.
I know we're not fully aware of the facts of that night, but it's getting more and more weird.

adding my 'pinon too.... what I don't get is that they keep going back to this Morat (right name?) guy and turning his house and garden over umteen times with no results. Obviously by now he would have moved all traces

Point taken, though I am sure that there are many equally adorable children who go missing and yet don't receive half the publicity. Call me a cynic, but I think that there is some sort of funny business going on...

I don't know how to explain why this story got so much media attention when hundreds of kids disappear each year.

What do you mean by "funny business" ?

Not all of them are a) cute four year olds b) on holiday when they're taken from their beds and c) have parents who are prepared to use the media to generate interest in the case.
