| Does anyone else remember this cartoon? I used to love watching it as a kid. I used to watch the German version, this is the opening. |

I don't know I think the Germans have a wicked sense of humour at times.... two great stories.
1. An arguement about the war in a London pub is getting a bit heated, a German guy steps forward and sys " I think this arguement is pointless, let us forget the past. I don't like to talk about the war, My father died in a concentration camp "
A deathly silence falls across the pub as this sinks in, a wee drunk at the end of the bar asks " I know you don't like to talk about it but what happened"
"He fell out of the watchtower"
2 After the Euro '96 tournament in England wher they lost on penalties, after the whole bombardment of media hype and that fucking song by Baddiel and Skinner, The Germans returned home victorious and had their party, when Jurgen Klinsman appeared on the balcony his first words were "It's Coming Home, It's Coming Home, Football's Coming Home" |

Aaaaah, yes I know the first one, of course (as a German I should ;) )
and, well, Germany won the Euro'96, so they just had to take that song to mock everyone a bit, the temptation was too great ;) |

That's a classic. Evelyn Hamann is just fantastic. Imagine having to talk like that.
And then of course there are classics like the one with the piece of spaghetti and the one with the piano.

*ROFL* explain that, please.
but bizarre is great, isn't it - at least it's not boring (and I've heard the stereotype of boring Germans too often *sighs*) |
