| Hmmm....tough question. I think different Texans would answer that differently. Lots of Texans think of Texas as part of the Southwest. My theory would be they classify what region Texas is in by how they want to be classified. Meaning, they like the descriptions, generalizations, etc. about the people, culture, and attitude of the "south" or "southwest". I tend to say the south because at least this part of the state borders Louisiana which is most definitely the south! But to me it doesn't feel right because I don't really feel like a southerner (since I'm from Detroit). I think Texas is sort of its own beast. |

No. : ) Texas did succeed for a few years back in the day. What is true is that Texans could vote to split the state into 6 (I think) different states. Of course so many Texans have state pride that borders on insanity so that'll never happen. |

Mostly. We left when I was little but go back at least once a year and I did a year of college there. Most of my family is still in the area so besides Austin, it feels like home. I'm more comfortable saying I'm an Austinite than saying I'm a Texan. |
