....how all music festivals should be!
Fookin' fantastic weekend of music and camping shenanigans, all washed down with lovely Kopparberg cider.
No huge crowds.
Great selection of food (the haggis neep and tatties were my favourite, closely followed by the porridge)
Full of friendly cool folk, and most importantly NO NEDS :D
Oh and a lineup to make grown men weep tears of joy.
My weekend went a little like this...
Make Model - great start to the weekend, big things coming from them soon methinks
CSS - Got the party started as ever
Aereogramme - Brilliant last ever gig, signed off in style
The Aliens - Very very under-rated, great atmosphere and very very very danceable
The Go! Team - Much more dancing :D
Beastie Boys - Woeful
Emma Pollock
Astrid Williamson
Bat For Lashes - Contender for my favourite act of the weekend, utterly beautiful
The Hold Steady
Rilo Kiley - Jenny's even more beautiful in the flesh and Blake rawks
Sons & Daughters - Planned on chilling out before Modest Mouse but couldn't help but join in the mass danceathon
Modest Mouse - Sound was crap but nobody cared, Johnny Marr is THE man
Primal Scream - Watched from near the back of the hill and seemed pretty crap to be honest, some folk seemed to like it though
Patrick Wolf - Opened the Sunday and quite rightly drew a bigger crowd than most acts so far
Aqualung - Mesmerising
Tilly and The Wall - Fantastic party atmosphere, should be compulsory listening for all
Regina Spektor - Another contender for my favourite acts, sun even came out!
M.I.A. - Great atmosphere and even managed to get the power cut after she sparked a stage invasion (Spot the M.I.A!)
Bjork - Do I need to tell you how awesome this was? Turned into a rave as soon as it got dark
LCD Soundsystem - Also also dancing in the dark goodness

Good question.
In a very very vague order the ones I can remember...
Innocence
Hunter
Pagan Poetry
Jog (I'm pretty sure she played this)
Army Of Me
Hyperballad
Earth Intruders
Declare Independence (which she introduced by saying she reckoned the Scottish folk would understand the words)
That's all the ones I can remember for now, she definitely played more off the new album and there was a slow one she sung in Icelandic I hadn't heard before

Would have loved to have seen em, especially in the setting but clashed with Modest Mouse and desperately wanted to see them after missing most of their gig in Glasgow a few months back. |

lucky...
we need more music festivals here.
I guess we have Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Lollapalooza...
The closest to me is Wakarusa. But it's like the invasion of the dirty dirty dirty hippies. I mean really dirty.

How big is it?
I got offered a free ticket/petrol money at the last minute if I'd driven a couple of friends up there but I couldn't be arsed. |

Perfectness except M.I.A.
And I think I would have picked Mogwai. Very hard decision there. See we never have that kind of dilemmas in our festivals. Sometimes I am thankful that we have small ones. :-P |

WHAT!?
You missed out!
It was perfect sized, about 15,000 tickets over the weekend so it was never too busy to get a decent spot but always a great atmosphere about the place.
Did I mention the views?

Ursina: yep hardly used it actually but when I did it they ran away in terror at the Avon. It's also funny seeing everyone from wee girls to big butch rockers pulling the AVon stuff out and spraying it about.
...and Champy M.I.A. was awesome. :D Even managed to get the power cut after she invited a 'few' folk on stage |

Whoa! That looks amazing! Fine, I'll give another proper listen to the album. Will you be happy then? :-P
I think maybe M.I.A. is one of those bands bearable when playing live. |

Arse. Though when I say drive, I do mean from Cardiff so it was a fair distance! |
