Interesting article yesterday on how its now all about gigs and not record sales, the latter not being very remunerative in todays technology. (hence Virgin being offloaded etc)
Obviously the technology also interferes with what was once a clear picture of popular songs.
Trouble for Radiohead is, Thom Yorke doesn't like touring. |

Yep i saw that article. It looks like the only way to make money for bands is to tour and sell merchandise from now on. |

they still can make plenty of money with airplay on radio and music tv if they 're getting it. |

Look at the Grateful Dead , their records sold for shit yet they made millions off this method. Thats why they reformed under a slightly different name , it's a living . Wilco was a big touring band before too . Any DIY band I can think of is definitely touring with t shirts , obscure singles and posters . |
