Being an Aberdonian, I was most amused by Trump getting the heave and told where to go with his plans. I wasn't in favour of the plans at all. The whole area is a wildlife rserve practically, and Balmedie beach is lovely. I can continue to fly my kite there in peace now!
It all smacked of Yankee profiteering for me. I don't think we were being short sighted turning it down. He was putting up a bunch of uber expensive housing in the area, but not putting up any of the required infrastructure, which joe public, i.e. me the tax payer, would have ended up paying for.
I'm happy. |

ahh I'm glad I'm not alone on this one.
Agree with you completely.
We do not need this kind of development anywhere in Scotland.
Plus the fact I did not like his attitude in earlier interviews. So, good ridance ! |

Was he going to make a golf course in Aberdeen or... ?
In this town, the mayor and part of the city council tried to expropriate a farm to make a golf course. They kept pushing in spite of great protests from the people here. Fortunately they got a big NO since it's illegal to expropriate property if it's not in public interest. As if a golf course for the rich and famous would in public interest :oS |

Thats the thing though. As Moray says its not a development that is for the greater good of the community. Its all very well to say that it brings jobs etc.
But they are only service related jobs which will involve very little training and have very poor career advancement opportunities. |

yep a massive development. There is also a farmer right in the middle of the land and he refused to give any of it to Mr. Trump. Trump was pretty off handed about him and that was one of things really pissed me of about Trump's attitude. |

I guess dear old Donald suffers from the misconception that everything can be bought with money. I don't expect him to understand if the farmer would rather stay where he is cos he likes it there, and doesn't want to exchange it for a few quid. |

If he fancied building a crazy golf resort, I'd have backed him.
Also, I hate golf, golfers, golf clubs, golf stories, golf trophies, etc. I do like golf buggies and watching golf on tv though.
Does anyone have Robin Williams stand up bit on Scottish golf? It's on you tube (No access at work) good for a ROFL LOLZ'er moment. |
