If you pay the ticket and everything else, I can come be your personal Christmas shopper. Of course that would make your Christmas slightly more expensive.

Anyhow, it's close to a miracle that I've figured out what to give people. So do you know what to buy and haven't gotten around to it yet, or are you still trying to find out what to buy?

I have decided to offer my parents cd's that i'll make - it's taking ages to figure out what to pick but they'll have a couple of Travis songs.

My mother quite like them.

I think my mother once commented on a Travis song with the words 'that's nice, dear'.

Sounds like a personal gift :o)

I have ideas for a few people but the majority of people I haven't figured it out. Honestly I haven't really thought much about it. I'm in denial about the whole thing.

I have to wait until next week anyway because I have to wait until I get my Christmas bonus to buy anything. Mainly because of the situation with our tenant running out on us. Basically, our finances are a mess, at least in the short-term.

But I know it'll all work out and she is a liar and life will catch up with her. Oh and I filed suit against her so it already is!

Once I have some cash I can bust it out in 2-3 days. No worries.

My mum also said : "oh ! they all have these beautiful blue eyes !" hahaha !

Yep it's a personal gift and i'm adding a portrait that i have to have done "chez le photographe".

What did you buy ? Did you buy something for yourself too ?

Other than that, i have my 3 nieces and my nephew AND it's one heck of a job to find something they might like.

Hanne, other strikes to come...next week and the week after.

I've been wondering about that former tennant of yours. So much for returning your call. So do you know where to find her? I imagine it's difficult to file a suit against someone whom you can't find.

Have fun spending your Christmas bonus. If it's anything like here, the amount of people in the streets and in the malls is crazy. It's like people come out of secret underground caves cos there is nowhere near as many people in town in any other month of the year.

More strikes? Those grévistes or whatever they're called must be crazy.

I actually bought a bit of make-up from the Body Shop for myself today. Other than that, I've bought clothes for my brother, a variety of smaller items such as salt&pepper mills and small serving bowls for my parents (got them with my brother, and books/clothes for friends.

And why is there fireworks right outside my window right now?? lol

Actually, I learned that word while living in Lyon. Impossible not to, actually. Won't be too good if they do a strike that will prevent people from coming home for Christmas!

About the fireworks; in this country, it's only legal to sell fireworks in December, so maybe someone got a bit too excited that it was available again lol

There are rumors that another day of it is scheduled for the 20th...but we're all worried they start on the 20th and end it later like they always do.

one can only purchase fireworks in december ? really ?
what if you celebrate something in the summer ?

Congratulations! I am done except for a couple small things for the kids' stockings. And I did it all without setting foot in a store! Amazon.com, my friends. Got free shipping on everything. It has all arrived at my house safe and sound. I have bought my husband the most romantic gift--a heater. It's for his office. The poor guy works in a cinder-block office with no heat and no window. Makes a cubicle look like heaven on earth.
My friend says that's how you know when the honeymoon is over. You start giving tools and appliances as gifts.

What a nightmare. I'm sure I'll read about it in the newspapers if the strike goes on.

If you have something to celebrate in the summer, you'll have to hire someone professional. Basically, they've made this law because too many people got injured when trying to handle it. They've also restricted the how much powder each firework item can contain etc. Last year, the police found some illegal stocks. One of them was in a flat in a rather large building, and if the stock had exploded, it would have taken down the entire building.
So basically, the idea is to prevent all those accidents. However, people smuggle all the illegal stuff into the country instead.
