Sorry, don't want to spoil the mood on the board. But I know I can always rant here and someone will listen.
I had to have a physical today before I could go off to college. The school I'm attending has a lot of international students from the islands (Barbados, Jamaica...) so they tested me for some things I KNOW I don't have (Hepatitis, TUBERCULOSIS!) I went to the doctor's office, and they gave me a TB test, which is where they stick you with a tiny little needle, wait 2 days, and get a read on the abrasion that appears. Then they gave me a menigitis shot, and now my arm is sore. They asked me to give a urine sample, which was slightly unpleasant. I was tired, and hungry because I went to work @ 6AM, and I had to fast for 14 hours for the blood work. I had my blood work done and the nurse couldn't find my veins. It wasn't her fault, they just wouldn't come up in my arm. So I sat there with the circulation cut off to my arm for 5 minutes while she slapped my arm. Then she wanted to try the other side so she did the same. Then she decided to go for my hand. So she had to stick a itty bitty needle in my hand, and it took forever because it was so small, so the vein ended up clotting. So she went to my other arm, and tried. So she stuck the needle in and dug around for awhile trying to find the vein. TO NO AVAIL. She went back to my hand and had to use a really big needle so it wouldn't clot again. And it hurt, a lot. So I sat there while she got the other 2 vials of blood (making it a total of 4) , and then I stumbled off to pay the woman.
Now I feel exhausted and just all around terrible. |

Oh gosh...that really sucks Lauren! I've been told I have "small veins" before, but usually the nurse can find it on the first or second try. My mom had really bad luck recently and had a horrible nurse that poked her all over, eventually drawing blood from her hand...ouch!! One of her friends told her that there's some kind of rule as to how many times they're allowed to poke you before they have to stop. I don't know if that's true, but some people REALLY don't know what the f*ck they're doing.
Hope you feel better :( I hate shots, too. The last one I got was a tetanus shot because I stepped on something in our lake and didn't know if it was a sharp rock, glass or metal...it hurt like a bitch though! |

| One of the worse parts was this morning. My boss gave me her credit card so I could go get donuts for everyone. So I went to my favorite place, Lamar's, which produces heaven in a ring shaped fried piece of dough. Just as I was leaving the old woman said, "You want a hot glazed? Fresh from the oven." I said no, I've got all I need right here. Then she handed me one FOR FREE! But I had to put it with the other donuts because I had to fast for my blood work. I was the hardest thing I've had to do... |

Ugghhhh...
Well I am getting a new phone! I ordered it today, so that's something to look forward to.

P Diddy went there for a very abbreviated period of time. But he gave the school lots o' money, so he's considered an alumni.
Toni Morrison
Debbi Allen (FAME I'M GONNA LIVE FOREVER!)
Isaiah Washington (formall of Grey's Anatomy)
went there too. |

Thanks. I was going to bring those up to Lauren. Go check out my new album on my MySpace page. You inspired one of my captions. |
