Uninsured Cancer Patients More Likely to Die, Study Finds
Do we really need a f**king study to tell us this???????
How about spending the money on cancer research?!?!
Yeah...I've had to write articles on the most obvious studies. I got pissed off one time at our Editor because he forced me to write about some study that found smaller vehicles more dangerous to drive in. Nooooo…really?!?! Ya don’t say!
Trust me, you can also die from cancer in a country with free health care. The waiting lists sometimes have people waiting for half a year before getting treatment.
But that headline is really a case of "Oh, I know!"
That reminded me of an article I read recently about stupid warning labels.
'Danger: Avoid Death' contest winner

DETROIT - Words to live by, from a warning label on a small tractor: "Danger: Avoid Death." That warning was selected Wednesday as the winner of the 11th annual "Wacky Warning Label Contest," sponsored by Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch. The contest is part of an effort to show the effects of lawsuits on warning labels.
Kevin Soave of Farmington Hills, a Detroit suburb, won the $500 grand prize for submitting the tractor's "Danger: Avoid Death" label.
The $250 second place was given to Carrianne, Jacob and Robby Turin of Greensburg, Pa., for a label they found on an iron-on T-shirt transfer that warns: "Do not iron while wearing shirt."
Richard Goodnow of Lancaster, Mass., earned the $100 third-place prize for a label on a baby stroller featuring a small storage pouch that warns: "Do not put child in bag."
Contest organizer Bob Dorigo Jones says the silly labels reflect how broken America's civil justice system is.
"Predatory lawyers know they can file ridiculous lawsuits against innocent product makers and blackmail them into a cash settlement — even in cases in which a user has ignored common sense," Dorigo Jones said in a statement Wednesday.
Honorable mention went to Cyndi LaMonde of Traverse City for a label on a letter opener that says: "Caution: Safety goggles recommended."
Ann Marie Young of Fillmore, N.Y., took the second honorable mention for a warning she found which cautions users: "The Vanishing Fabric Marker should not be used as a writing instrument for signing checks or any legal documents."
The group selected a list of finalists and listeners of WOMC-FM's Dick Purtan show chose the winners.
Yeah but if the human race didn't consist of such fuckwits we wouldn't need this shit. I mean seriouly when was the last time you actually read a newspaper or watched the news that wasn't sensationalist or opinionated. There's a huge anti-cocaine thing going on in Ireland at the moment, which I kinda agree with but on't agree with the wy they are going about it, som model famous for being famous died recently so it has brought it to the attention of a load of people but the media are going well over the top, Five People Die as a Result of Cocaine, fair enough but what about the others who have died throughout the year... didn't they deserve a mention, NO, because it wasn't a story at the time!!!, it's fucking Bullshit!! another example a young asian was stabbed in a Glasgow housing scheme (project), the papers jumped all over the racial side of things "oh could be hate crime" a week later a woman phones the Daily Record (Scotlands shit rag) to mention her son had been walking home one night was jumped and stabbed, She was actually asked what colour she was!!! what the fuck does it matter, a life was put in danger!!!

Dubz
My writing isn't sensationalized or opinionated Dubz, but I know what you're saying and I realize it's a major problem. But as much as everyone rags on the media, remember that there are professional journalists out there who try to cover the story in a fair and unbiased way and many of whom put their lives in danger to get a story out to the public. If you didn't have the media, who would be the watchdog of the government and other institutions? Yeah, some publications, TV programs and radio stations are only out to make a profit and try to get your attention by blowing things out of proportion, but others are out to find the truth...and that's the journalist I know I'm trying to become. :)
In the case of the woman calling the newspaper about her son's death, reporters have to ask those questions. They need to find out all the information possible about the person...age, gender, race...it's a normal question to ask and should be asked. But if they asked the question and didn't run her story solely based on the color the victims skin, there lies the problem.

She was basically told there was no story after she explained she was white and it was wite guys who had attacked her son.
I really wish you the best of luck as I would like to live in a world where journalists are reporters, as oppossed to coloumnists, for example Amanda Brunker says her profession is Journalist, a former Miss Ireland who writes a column in one of the Sunday Tabloid Sh!t Rags, with no formal training, she just opens her mouth and speaks out on stuff she obviously knows fuck all about and also gives opinions rather than facts. The UK and Ireland are especially guilty of this type of behaviour, One of the Tabloids started a name and shame campaign for paedophiles, which led to mob rule and hatred, which ultimately led to a doctors house being fire-bombed because the fuckwit brigade couldn't tell the difference between Paedophile and Paediatrician!!
And stuff like the Radio and MTV are also doing my nut in, I stick the radio on to listen to music and I am always subjected to some fuckwit who loves the sound of his own voice basking in his/her own smugness, usually with a couple of others in the studio to laugh at their jokes and make them feel validated, here's a suggestion, why don't you just PLAY SOME FUCKING MUSIC, and preferably not the same fucking shite you play all the time, mix it up a little, but these so called DJs (Disc Jockey, pfft, try using the fucking discs now and again!!) are only there to try and further there celebrity career, wankers the lot of them.
