Last night me and my best bud Lee went to Paulie Penguin Playhouse, the people who live there do this every year. You can park your car in their cul-de-sac get out, and explore their front yard. I love coming here. I think they have over 500 inflatable penguins in the display.

| There's a guy in my city who has done something like that for years and years, ever since I was little. His entire backyard and garage was a Christmas wonderland. The people on the street complained because of the traffic and were afraid if someone needed an ambulance or a fire truck, they wouldn't be able to get through. The poor guy was shut down, with the exception that friends could come. The guy started hanging out in his driveway greeting everyone with, "Hello, friend!" and he'd let them in. Interesting side note, he lives on Dasher Avenue! |

Haha...
Yeah, I love coming here. I didn't catch it in the pictures but there's a inflatable projector screen over their garage and they project a different penguin movie on it each night. even with sound... |

Yes he is. Or maybe was. I think he may have died. But yes, he did dress as Santa every year. There's a nice article about a "Christmas miracle" he predicted for one woman. http://www.thenewsherald.com/stories/121403/loc_20031214032.shtml
The woman felt that she had to see Herman Marks, and she told the story why.
For five years, she and her husband and their cat took a picture with Santa, Donna Marks said.
"And then last year the cat had died," she said, and that's when the woman told Santa what she wanted.
As she sat on Santa's lap, she said she has wanted to have a baby for five years but had been unsuccessful.
"Well, he patted her on the side," Robin Marks said, "and he said, 'Next year at this time, you're going to be having a baby.'
"And she is. She's pregnant. It gave us chills.
The woman said she wanted to run and tell Santa because she said it was like he performed a miracle for her, they said.
"Some of the stories that people have come in and told us just these last couple of days, it just tears at your heart," Robin Marks said, holding back tears or wiping them away as she spoke. "He's touched so many.
"People come here and say, 'It's not like Christmas until we come here,' and then it puts them in the mood. But now we're down and we need all the prayers and Santa needs a lot of prayers right now." |

LOL! I like the last picture Lauren! :)
There are two homes I can think of that go crazy and over the top tacky with their Christmas decorations. One is near my house...an old guy that goes insane with lights to the point of getting them all the way to the top branches of the huge oak trees in his yard and a family that lives near my grandma's house. Their entire front and back yard is PACKED with these small plastic Christmas figurines...it's hilarious. I'll have to take some pictures for you guys! |

One year I'd love to have a house like those, but what would I do with the lights afterwards? I wouldn't want to make it a yearly event though.
I love how you can get away with things at Christmas that are truly awful! |

You should come live in Ireland, some of the houses here have a ridiculous amount of lights/decorations, especially in the less affluent area, seems to be a status thing but it really is very tasteless in some cases, have people never heard of understating things?? sometimes a little looks much better than a lot.

Pfft. It's Christmas, it's not meant to be a taste contest! You're a scrooge of the lighting world. ;) |

fair enough but wouldn't these people be better spending their money on something they actually need instead of stupid decorations and a huge leccy bill.
