Furnace broken down
Not a repairman to be found
It's getting colder
Well, we did find one repairman. He wanted to charge us double time because it's a Sunday. We decided to "chill" out and wait until tomorrow. We've got a couple space heaters going and I think we'll be okay for one night.
I just came in from outside and it is much warmer than out there. It is cold enough to shiver your timbers for sure. And windy enough to blow your wig out into the street. The kind of cold wind where you can't breathe.
Oh, and my throat feels scratchy :o( Waaaaah!

Why thank you. We just got back from a place called Fantasyland. It's a big indoor Christmas display. They have moving figures of reindeer, Santa, elves, etc., a big model train display, a "North Pole," a big penguin room. It's really cool. Some of the figures they have are quite old, like from when I was a kid (ha ha), but they've also put out some updated things. People my age who went as kids are now taking their own. All my kids liked it, but my son went especially bananas over it. Topped off the evening with take-out pizza. Yum.
Anyway, I think it's about as cold in here as it's going to get and it's not that bad. We're all dressed in layers and we have the heater going. I also turned on the oven for a little while. I think we'll survive the night without turning into abominable snow people. It is getting pretty nasty outside, though. Starting to snow again and still extremely windy. Everyone knows it's windy! (Couldn't resist.) It's time to put the little dumplings down for the night. I'm quite exhaustified. |

Well, I woke up at 3:00 AM and being the dutiful mommy, I decided to give the kids some "heater" time in their rooms. I didn't want to leave the heater on all night--that's how fires get started, you know! So, as the heater is going...I am here. I've come up with some songs to go along with the evening.
Cool Night by Paul Davis
Mentally edit the words "fire light" for "space heater."

Baby, It's Cold Outside by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Jordan
Mentally edit "Outside" for "Inside."

Snow Miser from Year Without a Santa Claus

Love the ice caps and the icicles hanging from the noses. |
